Benjamin "Benjie" Paras is a retired Filipino professional basketball player who played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1989 to 2003. He was born on October 2, 1968, in San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Considered as one of the greatest centers in Philippine basketball history, Paras led the Shell Turbochargers to three PBA championships in 1990, 1992, and 1998. He won the PBA Most Valuable Player award in 1999. He was also a member of the Philippine national basketball team, where he competed in the 1989 FIBA Asia Championship and the 1998 Asian Games, winning bronze medals in both tournaments.
After his basketball career, Benjie Paras ventured into acting, appearing in several movies and television shows in the Philippines. He is also a sports analyst and commentator for the PBA and other basketball leagues. Paras has two sons who also became basketball players, Andre and Kobe.
